How to Stretch Your Way Into Spring

Joint Sprain/Dislocation Santa Rosa, CAOne of the best things that you can do for your joints is to stretch, but it’s often the last thing that you want to do either before bed or after a big workout. To help you get into the habit of stretching your joints this spring, we have a few tips for you.

Set a Stretching Schedule

It’s easier to get things done when we get into the habit of doing them. And, one of the easiest ways to get into a good habit is to add it into your schedule. Try setting a calendar reminder in your phone to stretch every night before bed; that way it becomes part of your routine. If stretching before bed seems to be too daunting to do, consider stretching every morning when you wake up.

Stretch After a Workout

You don’t have to run a marathon in order to warrant a good stretching session. Try to get into the habit of stretching for about 10 minutes after every workout that you do; even if it’s just a walk around the park. You should notice a big difference in how you feel the next day and should be a lot less sore and tired.

Practice the Stretches You learned in physical therapy

If you have had the privilege of working with one of our physical therapists, then don’t put all of that knowledge to waste. Instead, try to practice all of the stretches that you learned in physical therapy. If it hurts too badly or if you haven’t done them in a long time, then you can try modifying the stretches.

Stretching is an easy thing to do to avoid getting a joint injury. If you want to learn a little bit more about stretching and how you can take better care of your joints this spring, contact us at our Santa Rosa office and call (707) 544-3400.
