Dr. Benjamin Lurie is a Sports Medicine Orthopedic Surgeon specializing in arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder and knee, shoulder replacement, and tendon/ligament repair. He completed his Fellowship training in Sports Medicine and Shoulder Surgery at UC San Francisco, where he served as Assistant Team Physician for the San Francisco Giants and Cal Men’s Basketball. He now serves as Team Physician for Santa Rosa Junior College athletics.

 

As a Sports Medicine specialist, Dr. Lurie focuses on diagnosing the root cause of the musculoskeletal problem to help his patients get back to the activities they enjoy most- whether its college football, pickleball or playing with the grandkids. Most patients can make a full recovery without surgery with the correct diagnosis, physical therapy, and with biologic treatments and injections when appropriate. When surgery is needed, Dr. Lurie utilizes state-of-the-art techniques to minimize pain and shorten recovery time. Dr. Lurie has published numerous research articles on improving surgical techniques and patient outcomes after surgery of the knee, shoulder and hip.  

 

Dr. Lurie grew up in San Rafael and has spent much of his life exploring the outdoors of Northern California. He completed his undergraduate at UC Berkeley, medical school at UC San Diego and his residency at the University of Southern California. In his free time, he and his wife enjoy surfing, mountain biking, skiing and tennis.
